Bushido refers to the Japanese style of martial arts known as the "Way of the Warrior," and dates back hundreds of years in Japanese history. Bushido is still widely popular today, and while there are many specific brands of Bushido karate, most forms share certain types of advanced karate techniques you will need to know if you are working toward a black belt.

Step 1
Learn and practice all of the forms and basic techniques required by your specific dojo. Even though standard Bushido karate follows the same basic techniques everywhere, each dojo will have certain requirements for their students that may vary.

Step 2
Study the use of Bushido weapons, such as the tan bo and bokken, as well as any other weapons for which instruction is made available to you. Weapons study is rarely difficult for martial artists to learn because weapons are added into already-mastered techniques, but weapons proficiency is expected in advanced Bushido.

BushidoStep 3
Learn advanced escape techniques from holds and weapons attacks. Even if your dojo does not emphasize self-defense for beginners, as an advanced martial artist, you should be able to evade attacks by knife and gun, as well as chokes and other holds.

Step 4
Master nerve attacks and atemis, or strikes to pressure points. Remember that advanced martial artists should achieve the maximum effect on their opponent using the least amount of effort possible.

Step 5
Maintain mastery of the jumping and spinning versions of all of your hand and foot techniques, and practice stringing techniques together into logical combinations. Being an advanced practitioner of bushido karate is all about using the tools you have acquired as a martial artist.
