I have taken martial arts since i was eight years old and every time i bring it up in a conversation they laugh at me. Now i don't bring it up to sound big trust me i'm only five foot three,Maybe thats why they laugh i dont know or maybe they think i'm bragging if so i cant help it i was supposed to be crippled at age 25 so maybe i am bragging a little but not for the reason's they think.

I think a lot of times its because of their pride and not your own.  You sound like you are humble about it.  Real training takes place in you heart and if they can see that humility and confidence come forth then you are showing them the true making of a martial artists.  I also think some people laugh because so many do brag about their training and it kinda gives those who are true to their training a bad rap.  Don't worry about it.  Train hard, persevere and don't quite! God bless!

It's all about your heart.  Sounds like you have a good heart.  Physical strength is of some value but it's the heart that gets you through the real battles that are within. (that's not budah; thats Jesus) Stay strong. Smile

With all due respects. One should never reveal in any situation that they know the arts. When ever you bring it up in a conversation and share that knowledge with people, there seems to be a dough when others hear it. In my time when you earned your black belt one values to keep it private and hidden.

Let the world know when the time comes. Hopefully people will never have to find out that you do know it in unpleasant circumstances. Osu.

Why not to tell others? I think if you tell other people that you do karate and have fun, then mayby more people will join. For me most important thing in karate is that I have fun, and I take part in something, and I made new friends. So it would not matter if it was soccer club or karate club, I would like to share with others.
