The Superfan's Unofficial Karate Combat Rankings - KC35 Update

Including a Pound-for-Pound List of the Best Full-Contact Karate Fighters in the World
by Mac Tyson, 2022-08-31

After the Season 4 Finale I created an unofficial fan ranking for each division of fighters and a P4P list for both Men’s and Women’s Division. Karate Combat has since moved to a numbered format for KC35. These are the Post-Karate Combat 35 Rankings:

Explaining the Rank Changes post-KC35:

After the Karate Combat Superfight, both fighters not only kept their belts but their rankings as well. After winning a Majority Decision over Josh Quayhagen, Luiz Rocha solidified his position as the #1 P4P fighter in Karate Combat.

But KC35 did shake up the Men’s Pound 4 Pound. With the return of the Heavyweights, Achraf Ouchen joins the P4P rankings at #6 after a brutal KO victory over Elhadji Ndour.

Raymond Daniels vacated his Bellator Kickboxing Title when he made his debut against Franklin Mina. He would win the fight with a dominant unanimous decision victory against the former Middleweight Title Contender to secure the #2 ranking in the division.

Finally, there was a position swap at Bantamweight. Jesus Lopez moves past Illies Mardhi to take the #3 ranking in the division with a win over Gabriel Stankunas on short notice.

EDITOR’S NOTE: “I asked Mac Tyson why he put Raymond Daniels ahead of Shahin Atamov at Middleweight, and here’s what he had to say:”

Shahin Atamov won the belt against Franklin Mina, who hadn't lost against anyone else prior to Daniels. But Atamov never successfully defended his belt. (He lost it to current MW champ Ross Levine.) Daniels's win over Mina was more impressive than Atamov's, dropping Mina multiple times.
In general, when I make my list, I prioritize dominance and merit (who they have fought, title defenses, overall record) first, then awards they have won in the organization, and finally prior accomplishments are factors but are the least considered in my rankings.
